Avocado Tincture

Through personal experience and those of friends, family, and clients, we have found that this tincture works amazingly well for arthritis.

The recipe came from a gentleman who overheard some ladies talking about their arthritis. He decided to share what the women from his village in Mexico did. That recipe was then shared with Jules and she made up a batch to try. It worked the very first time out using it with great success. Since then it has been trial and error to find works best. Below is the recipe he gave and how we found best to use it.

To Make:

1) One avocado pit cleaned and cut into chunks.

(Tip: use potato peeler to create a flat surface before first cut to avoid rolling)

2) Place in a pint/12oz jar with a lid and fill with 70% rubbing alcohol.

3) Let sit for 7 days. Turns a golden amber color

How to use

Dab, spray, or rub mixture into areas of arthritic pain or aches. Continue to use it every time the pain/ache returns. Once nutrients have had time to be absorbed into the affected joints, the area will calm, and you will use it less often. The key is repetitive use.

TOPICAL USE ONLY! DO NOT INGEST.

Caution: Keep out of reach of small children. Avocado is toxic to dogs. Make sure it is well absorbed before allowing them to lick the area.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can you substitute Vodka/Grain Alcohol for Isopropyl (Rubbing) Alcohol)? Yes, as long as it is between 70 and 75 Proof. Anything higher will emulsify the fat in the pit and it will be useless.

  • What do we do with the pit after the 7 days? You can just leave it in the jar unless you want to strain the pieces out. Up to each, however, it does not affect the tincture to just leave them in there.

  • Does the tincture need to be refrigerated & what is the shelf life? It does not need to be refrigerated. Storing it in a dark space (like a linen closet, cupboard, or basement/cellar, it will last indefinitely. Do not store it in the bathroom.

  • Mixing it with other products: It will most likely not mix well with topical oils like Castor, Coconut, or Almond oil.

  • Will any avocado work? Yes!

  • As a reminder: this is for TOPICAL USE ONLY! Do NOT ingest, even if you are using a drinkable alcohol.
